This document focuses on enhancing environmental awareness and fostering critical thinking and problem- solving approaches among primary school teachers and students, by helping them to become actively involved in the exploration of their immediate environment through understanding certain concepts and undertaking some selected activities ‘related to Energy, Landscape, Air, Water and Wildlife, leading to Positive Action.
The document does not pretend to be a comprehensive study on environmental education activities at primary level. It contains a set of suggestions concerning selected concepts and activities and the use of low-cost materials or equipment which can be modified, adapted and enriched according to the needs of the students and the conditions of the local environment. The fundamental strategy is to encourage the use of the environment as aliving laboratory which is full of local and low-cost materials.
