This short, five-character Thanksgiving English Play for Young Learners is designed to help children practice clear, expressive speech while exploring important themes of friendship, gratitude, and teamwork. The simple, humorous dialogue makes it accessible for early English learners, and the playful tone encourages students to use gestures, facial expressions, and voice changes to bring the characters to life. Only a few simple props are needed: baskets or bowls of pretend food for Avery, Maggie, and Sami, a feathered headband or scarf for Sami, and a turkey hat or mask for Charlie. Encourage performers to pause after key lines and funny moments so the audience can enjoy the humor and absorb the message of cooperation and sharing.

- Avery: Wow, look at all this food! Sami, your berries smell amazing!
- Sami: Thanks, Avery! The forest gives us many gifts.
- Maggie: And together, we’re going to make the first Thanksgiving feast ever!
- Charlie: (whispering) Uh… please don’t eat me, okay? I’m… very thankful to be alive!
- Maggie: (laughs) Don’t worry, Charlie! You’re part of the feast in spirit only!
- Narrator: The children worked together, arranging food on blankets, laughing and talking as they went.
Act 2: The Silly Turkey
Charlie the Turkey tiptoes center stage, flapping and spinning comically.
- Charlie: (panicked) I must escape! I cannot be dinner! I… I mean… I bring cheer!
- Avery: (giggling) Charlie, if you help us, you’re safe!
- Sami: (laughing) Yes! You can even do a dance to entertain the feast.
Charlie does a silly turkey dance. Everyone laughs.
- Maggie: See? Even a turkey has a special gift to share!
- Narrator: The children realized that everyone — Pilgrim, Wampanoag, or turkey — had something unique to contribute.
Act 3: Sharing the Feast
Children gather around the blanket, placing their pretend food.
- Sami: We give thanks not only for food, but for friendship, laughter, and helping each other.
- Avery & Maggie: To friendship!
- Charlie: (relieved) And to me! Don’t forget the silly turkey!
All laugh. They pretend to share the feast, passing “food” to one another.
- Narrator: And so, the first Thanksgiving feast was celebrated — full of sharing, laughter, and gratitude.
- All Together: Happy Thanksgiving!
