Narrator:
Long ago, in a sunny meadow, there stood a great tree.
Its branches were strong, its leaves were green, and it gave shade to all who came.
(Bird 1 and Bird 2 enter, fluttering around the tree.)
Bird 1:
Good morning, Big Tree!
Tree:
Good morning, my little ones. Did you sleep well in my branches?
Bird 2:
Yes, thank you! You kept us safe from the rain last night.
(Squirrel and Rabbit enter, playing around the tree.)
Squirrel:
I love your nuts and fruits, Tree!
Rabbit:
And I love the soft grass under your shade.
Tree:
I am happy when you are happy. This is my home, and it is yours too.
(Villagers and children enter, sitting under the tree.)
Villager 1:
What a cool shade! Itโs the perfect place to rest after work.
Child 1:
Letโs play here every day!
(All laugh and play under the tree.)
Act 2 โ The Woodcutter Arrives
(Sudden footsteps. The Woodcutter enters, holding his axe.)
Woodcutter:
Ah! What a big, strong tree. If I cut it down, I can sell the wood for much money!
(All animals and villagers freeze in shock.)
Bird 2:
What? Cut down the tree?
Squirrel:
No! This is our home!
Villager 2:
Please, Woodcutter, we all need this tree.
Woodcutter (firmly):
I need the money. I have no choice. Stand aside!
(He raises the axe.)
Act 3 โ Pleas for Mercy
Rabbit (trembling):
If you cut the tree, where will I hide from foxes?
Bird 1:
Where will we build our nests?
Child 2:
Weโll have no shade to play in!
Tree (calm but sad):
Woodcutterโฆ do you know what I have given?
I give shade to the tired.
I give fruit to the hungry.
I give shelter to the small.
If you take me away, you take away life from many.
(The woodcutter lowers his axe slowly.)
Act 4 โ The Change of Heart
Woodcutter (thinking):
All my life, I thought trees were only wood for houses, chairs, and money.
But nowโฆ I see they are life itself.
(He throws the axe aside.)
Woodcutter (to the tree):
Forgive me, Big Tree. I will not harm you. I will protect you.
(All cheer. Animals hug the tree, villagers smile.)
Tree (warmly):
Thank you, my friend. When you care for nature, nature cares for you.
Act 5 โ Celebration of Life
Narrator:
And so the tree stood tall, safe in the meadow.
The woodcutter became its guardian, and life under the tree grew even brighter.
(All characters join hands in a circle around the tree.)
All together:
We promise to respect and value nature!
(Singing and dancing around the tree. Curtain closes.)
