I’m Jake. I am 12 years old. I’m from Canada. I live with my mom, dad, and my little sister, Lily. We have a cozy house in a small town.

I go to Maple Elementary School. My favorite subject is Science because I love learning about animals and plants. I also enjoy playing soccer during recess with my friends.

In my free time, I like to read adventure books and play video games. I have a pet cat named Misty, and we have a lot of fun together.

My favorite color is blue, and pizza is my favorite food. On weekends, my family and I usually go hiking in the nearby forest. It’s so much fun!

I hope to make new friends and learn more cool things in the future. Nice to meet you!

Best,

Jake

Hello, I’m a college student

Hello! Nice to meet you!

I’m Sarah Davis. I’m 20 years old and a college student too. I study at a university in Chicago. My favorite classes are Art, Spanish, and Science. I find History a bit challenging. The teachers are friendly, and I’m in my second year. I’m enjoying my time at college.

I live in a cozy apartment near the university with two roommates, Lisa and Jake. We like to cook together and sometimes go to the movies on weekends.

I have an older sister. She works as a graphic designer. We grew up in Miami. Even though we’re in different cities now, we stay in touch through phone calls and messages. I miss our family gatherings and her amazing cooking.

How about you? Do you have any siblings or roommates? What do you enjoy doing on the weekends?

Best regards,
Sarah

She usually goes to work by bike. She looks nasty but she is nice and intelligent. Her students love her because she is always happy. Her daughter Diana is a beautiful smart 7-year-old girl. She speaks two languages and she is excellent at Maths. My father loves his sister . My aunt loves to help other people. I think she is the most generous person I know.

At school:

Lucas goes to school every day of the week. He has many subjects to go to each school day: English, art, science, mathematics, gym, and history. His mother packs a big backpack full of books and lunch for Lucas.

His first class is English, and he likes that teacher very much. His English teacher says that he is a good pupil, which Lucas knows means that she thinks he is a good student.

His next class is art. He draws on paper with crayons and pencils and sometimes uses a ruler. Lucas likes art. It is his favorite class.

His third class is science. This class is very hard for Lucas to figure out, but he gets to work with his classmates a lot, which he likes to do. His friend, Kyle, works with Lucas in science class, and they have fun.

Then Lucas gets his break for lunch. He sits with Kyle while he eats. The principal, or the headmaster as some call him, likes to walk around and talk to students during lunch to check that they are all behaving.

The next class is mathematics, which most of the students just call math. Kyle has trouble getting a good grade in mathematics, but the teacher is very nice and helpful.

His fourth class is gym. It is just exercising.

History is his last class of the day Lucas has a hard time staying awake. Many lessons are boring, and he is very tired after doing gym.

Happy Back to School!

It’s time to go back to school, and I’m so happy! I want to tell you about the happy things that happen when we go back to school. First, we get to see our friends again. We share stories about our summer vacations and play games during breaks. It’s so much fun to be together!

Next, we meet our new teachers. Teachers are friendly and help us learn new things. We have different classes like math, English, and science. Each class is a new adventure. We also have a new backpacks to carry our books and snacks. They have our favorite colors and makes us feel ready for the day. Lunchtime is special too. We bring tasty food from home or buy it at the school cafeteria. It’s a time to chat with friends and share our favorite snacks. In the classroom, we have colorful pencils, crayons, and paper. We draw, write, and create amazing things. Art is so much fun! Sometimes, we have special activities like singing, playing music, or doing experiments. Every day is full of surprises.

Back to school is a happy time for learning, making friends, and having fun. I hope you have a fantastic back-to-school experience!

My best friend Selena

Hi, my name is Tina. I am thirteen years old and today I want to talk about my best friend Selena. She is my classmate and she is thirteen years old too. We attend a very big school near Scotland. We share the same desk and love the same school subjects. Our favorite lessons are Arts and Physical Education. I am very good at tennis and she is very good at volleyball. She plays volleyball at our school team. We both have a busy life. We always get up at a half past six and at seven o’clock her father takes us to school by car. They live next door to us, so after school we always do our homework, walk our dogs and play together. Our classes start at half past seven and finish at 4 p.m. Her mother is a nurse. My mother is a nurse too and they work at the same hospital. Our fathers are both engineers but they work at different companies. On Mondays, Selena has violin class and I have piano class. On Tuesdays and Thursdays she practices volleyball at the school’s gym and I play tennis in our school court. Friday is my favorite day because Selena stays overnight with us. On the weekends, we usually go to the movie theater or have a picnic if the weather is good. I am the only child, I don’t have a sister but she is like a sister to me.

Friendship in my life

My name is Katie and I’m from New York. I’m such a sociable person, I love meeting new people everyday. In fact, I have more than 600 facebook friends. They usually like my posts, comment on them, and share with me interesting videos and games. I also have foreign friends on facebook. They help me practice foreign languages and learn about different cultures.  However, facebook friends are not that important for me. I mean, I can easily do without them because I feel like they are so far and fake. However, the person I can’t do without is my best friend Mary.

Mary is my classmate; so, we meet every day. It’s not a problem because we never argue. I like her because she understands me very well and I always find her beside me. I always tell her my secrets and other personal information and I know she is trustworthy. When I have a problem, she supports me a lot and gives me advice. I love this, because as you know “a friend in need, is a friend indeed”. More than that, we have a lot of things in common. We both love shopping and go to the mall together on weekends. Mary and I also love the same kind of music and attend concerts together. I really enjoy her company. The only thing I don’t like about her is that she is so talkative, but after all, no one is perfect.

My favourite Place

One of my favorite vacation places is Mexico. I really like the weather there because it never gets cold. The people are very nice too. They never laugh at my bad Spanish. The food is really good. Mexico City is a very interesting place to visit. It has some great museums and lots of fascinating old buildings. The hotels are too expensive to stay but there are more affordable options. For example, you can stay at one of the beach resorts like Acapulco. If you are planning to visit Mexico, you should definitely see the Mayan temples near Merida.

Our Holiday

Every year we go to Florida. We like to go to the beach.

My favorite beach is called Emerson Beach. It is very long, with soft sand and palm trees. It is very beautiful. I like to make sandcastles and watch the sailboats go by. Sometimes there are dolphins and whales in the water!

Every morning we look for shells in the sand. I found fifteen big shells last year. I put them in a special place in my room. This year I want to learn to surf. It is hard to surf, but so much fun! My sister is a good surfer. She says that she can teach me. I hope I can do it!

The Toy Store

Hi, my name is Amy. I am twelve years old. We have a small toy shop in our neighborhood. My father says Fridays are the busiest day in our toy shop. So after school, my mom takes me there to help my dad. That’s another reason why I like Fridays. We allow kids to play with the toys when they are in the store. My father says I am responsible for the toys and that I need to watch and make sure nothing breaks. Many kids from my school and neighborhood also come to the shop to look at our new toys. It is always noisy here. Because it’s full of babies and small children. Little girls tend to go for dolls, boys go for cars. Some just want to play with the toys, some actually want to buy them. It’s a bit tiring for me but I like going to the shop and helping my father.

The Smiths’ House

Mr. and Mrs. Smith have one son and one daughter. The son’s name is John. The daughter’s name is Sarah.

The Smiths live in a house. They have a living room. They watch TV in the living room. The father cooks food in the kitchen. They eat in the dining room. The house has two bedrooms. They sleep in the bedrooms. They keep their clothes in the closet. There is one bathroom. They brush their teeth in the bathroom.

The house has a garden. John and Sarah play in the garden. They have a dog. John and Sarah like to play with the dog.

A Wonderful Summer Holiday

I just returned from the greatest summer vacation! It was so fantastic, I never wanted it to end. I spent eight days in Paris, France. My best friends, Henry and Steve, went with me. We had a beautiful hotel room in the Latin Quarter, and it wasn’t even expensive. We had a balcony with a wonderful view.

We visited many famous tourist places. My favorite was the Louvre, a well-known museum. I was always interested in art, so that was a special treat for me. The museum is so huge, you could spend weeks there. Henry got tired walking around the museum and said “Enough! I need to take a break and rest.”

We took lots of breaks and sat in cafes along the river Seine. The French food we ate was delicious. The wines were tasty, too. Steve’s favorite part of the vacation was the hotel breakfast. He said he would be happy if he could eat croissants like those forever. We had so much fun that we’re already talking about our next vacation!

Dinner preparation:

Montie’s mother was coming to dinner, so he decided to get out the beautiful dishes she gave him. He looked forward to impressing his mother. He remembered how great he felt when she gave him the dishes. First, he got out his best silverware, cups and plates.

He carefully placed the plates on the table. Then, he laid a cloth napkin next to each plate. On the left side of the plate, he placed a knife making sure that its blade was facing toward the plate. On the right side, Montie placed the fork and spoon. After filling the glasses with ice, he put water in each glass. He placed white flowers in a vase in the middle of the table. They had a beautiful aroma.

As Montie stood back to admire his work, the doorbell rang. Montie had finished just in time because his mother had arrived.

My Day:

Hi, my name is Joshua. I am a financial adviser. Yesterday I had a very busy day. I woke up at half past six. Waking up was so hard that I needed to wash my face with cold water to open my eyes. Then I went to the kitchen and had a cup of coffee and toast for breakfast. I brushed my teeth, took the trash out, ironed my clothes and finally I got dressed and left home around seven o’clock. I got on the bus at half past seven to downtown. I arrived at work at ten to eight. I needed to finish up six reports before noon. At twelve o’clock I had half an hour lunch with my colleagues. After lunch we had a meeting until two o’clock. Then I visited one of my clients at three o’clock to talk about his financial plans. I came back to work at around four o’clock and prepared three more reports. Finally at six I was able to leave my office and I was exhausted by the time I got home.

Healthy Food :

Healthy food is good for you. You need it for shiny hair and strong bones. You need it so you can grow tall and feel good. The best part about healthy food is that it is tasty! You can find grains in bread, rice, and oatmeal. You should eat four servings of grains every day. Milk, cheese, and yogurt are also important. These will give you strong bones.

Meat, beans, fish, and nuts give your body iron and protein. You can also eat an egg or some peanut butter to help keep your body healthy. Fruit and vegetables are good to eat. Eat many kinds each week.

Chips and cookies are tasty, but eat only a few at a time. When you eat healthy food, your body will thank you!

Fast food or Traditional food?

It’s Ok to eat fast food occasionally but fast food is high in calories. So, if you often eat a hamburger and chips you can easily become obese. You must eat homemade food because it is healthier.

Everybody knows that fast food is cheap and quick. However fast food is not as tasty as homemade food. Young people prefer to eat pizzas, hamburgers and French fries but they should eat soup instead. Fast food companies spend lots of money to make people believe that fast food is cool. The average American eats three hamburgers with French fries a week.  Is it surprising that 14% of American teenagers are obese? Health care is devoted to create new eating habits   so that we can have a healthier generation.

Obesity can lead to other diseases such as diabetes and heart strokes. This is why America is now starting to fight back against the fast food companies. They are stopping serving fast food in school cafeterias and restaurants serving traditional food are opening now.

Healthy Vs. Unhealthy Habits : Sheila and Mark

Sheila is 12 years old. She goes to school in the morning and comes back home at 2 in the afternoon. Then, she takes a shower and she has lunch. Sheila usually eats vegetables and some meat. For example, she has chicken or fish with rice and salad and she likes drinking water or juice. After that, she brushes her teeth. In the evening, Sheila walks to the sport centre. There, she plays tennis or does some exercise. When she is hungry she always eats some fruit. Sheila never goes to bed after ten, because she needs to get enough rest to get up early in the morning.

Mark always gets up at twelve in the morning. He doesn’t have breakfast. Mark likes having hamburgers, pizza, crisps and hot dogs for lunch. He always has fizzy drinks, like cola.  So, there aren’t any vegetables or fruit at home. After lunch he takes the bus and goes to school- six blocks far away. At six o’clock, Mark goes to the bus stop and comes back home. He sits on his dad’s couch and watches TV for three hours. When he is hungry, he eats lots of sweets or chocolate biscuits and he always drinks cola. He usually goes to sleep at eleven or twelve because before that he likes playing computer games. He usually stays at home all day.

My Hobby :

My name is Luke. My favourite hobby is photography. When I have time,  I take my camera and take lots of pictures. I photograph the world around me. I take photos when I’m at my grandparents’. They live in the country, near the forest and have a big garden. It’s an ideal place for me. I get up in the morning and go to the garden or the forest. Sometimes I encounter some animals. I try to take a picture of them. At home, my Dad helps me to choose the best photos. I send them to magazines. I won a photo competition once. I’ve got a beautiful album called “wonders of the World”. Dad says we are going to our grandparents’ for the weekend. I can’t wait! I will be able to take lots and lots of photos.

I also like fishing. When we get bored with staying indoors (at home), my father and I go fishing in the nearest river. I take my small fishing rod and throw it deep into the river while my father takes out his books and starts reading in the bright sun. It is hard to catch fish in the river because the current is very fast, and you need to have endless patience if you want to catch something. My dad always tells me that fishing teaches patience; well now I know what he means.

Sometimes when my father  is busy with his work, I go out with my friends and play certain games. Not the silly games for little children, like hide-and-seek or piggy-in-the middle, but more serious things. We play pirates, who fight with each other to get the treasure or the Lord of Ring – I like to be Aragon. And of course there is nothing better than a good game of football played with your friends!

Christmas:

Dear Nabila,
Hello! How are you doing? Thank you so much for the Christmas wishes. I will be
very pleased to answer your questions about this celebration. You find attached some
pictures which describe how we celebrate Christmas in England.
Generally, Christmas takes place on the 25th of December every year, and it is meant
to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. But, the way people celebrate it differs from one
country to another.

In England, there are some special traditions most people respect. Celebrating this
event starts before the 25th of December. For example, we decorate our homes with
Christmas trees. Also, though not often, we send Christmas cards to friends and
relatives, wishing them merry Christmas. However, some people send just emails or
messages. It’s part of our traditions that children write letters about their wishes to
Father Christmas and toss them in the fire. At Christmas Eve, which takes place on the
24th of December, we put presents under the Christmas tree. Children hang stockings
around their beds, or sometimes around the fireplace, so that Father Christmas fills them
with presents. On the 25th of December, we have a special Christmas dinner. The main
dish is usually a roast turkey and our favourite dessert is pudding.

I hope you have got a clear idea about how we celebrate Christmas in England and
I’m eager to know about your celebrations in Morocco.
Bye for now,
Albert

Tim’s shopping day :

Tim loves to go with his mother when she goes grocery shopping. His favorite store is right next to the grocery store. It is Billows Book Store. Tim goes straight to the bookstore when they get to the grocery store. Mom buys groceries. Tim’s favorite section is the sports section for children. They have all kinds of books about sports. There are magazines that tell everything about sports.

Tim likes sports and he spends a lot of time looking at the books and magazines in this section. He likes the area with children’s books, too. Tim always waits in the bookstore for Mom to come and get him. He chooses one book or a magazine and Mom buys it for him. It is a nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

If your kid is in kindergarten or first grade, then they should start by CVC words. These words are simple and are often among the first words taught to beginning readers. CVC words play a crucial role in a child’s literacy journey, bridging the gap between phonemic awareness and phonics – the fundamental pillars of reading development.
